Once you are set up for custom attribution, you can update your custom attribution tables in Crisp Reporting Studio (CRS) to keep them up to date with changes to your business. For information on getting set up for custom attribution, see Setting up custom attribution.

As attribution can impact a range of reports and cause data to appear inaccurate if not properly formatted, we recommend delegating a small number of users at your organization (usually 1 or 2) who can manage custom attribution. CRS admins can manage custom attribution permissions on the User Administration screen.

Depending on what you requested during setup, you will have one or more custom data tables that include the custom attributes you specified. You can edit these custom data tables to keep them up to date with your current business needs.

To update your custom attribution:

  1. In CRS, from the main menu, select Tools > Update Data.
  2. We recommend downloading a backup copy of the data table you want to update in case you have any issues by selecting the Download button.
Note: Crisp does not keep backups of your attribution files, and cannot provide previous versions or comprehensive change logs of these files. Upon request, we can provide the user who last updated the file and the date it was last updated.
  3. To do a bulk update (where you update several fields at once), complete the following steps:
    • Make changes in the Excel file you downloaded, then save it as a new file to preserve the backup file.
    • In CRS, select the Bulk Update button.
    • In Excel, copy all the data from the file, then paste it in the upload box.
Note: If you are working from a file with column names different from those in Crisp and paste them into the Bulk Update tool, the tool will try to map them to columns with similar names. Columns that are being mapped appear in yellow, so please review the columns to ensure they are uploading and mapping according to your expectations.
    • Select the Upload button.
The data uploads in CRS, replacing the previous data.
  4. To update attributes individually (best for a small number of changes), complete the following steps:
    • Once you have downloaded a backup copy, double click in the field you want to update.
    • Enter the new value.
    • Repeat for any additional fields you want to update.
    • If you want to add a row, select the Add Row button at the bottom of the table.
    • If you want to delete a row, select the checkbox to the left of the row, then select the Remove Data button.
    • Select the Save button.

Your changes are saved, and updates are immediate within CRS. Your updates will flow through to Crisp Retail Analytics (CRA), but may not be immediate, as we send updates from CRS to CRA 3 times daily at 8am, 12pm, and 4pm (Eastern time). We have future work planned to make these updates available more quickly in CRA.
