To help you make the most of your data once you've transitioned to Scintilla, the following section provides an overview of new measures that allow for a level of reporting that was not possible with the legacy DSS data set.
New Key Measures and Attributes
While there are many new elements available in Scintilla, this document concentrates on the key measures and attributes in the following selected categories of data: Item Dimensions, Store Fulfillment, Omni Sales, Digital Transactability, Ecomm Inventory, and Out of Stock Root Cause.
Item Dimension
- Banner Description - The description of the sign or banner on the outside of the store (e.g., Walmart Supercenter).
- Omni Segment Description - The description for the Omni segment. Stores - financial segment name and eComm - division name.
- Omni Department Description - The description for the Omni department. Stores - department name and eComm - super department name.
- Omni Category Description - The department category group description.
- Omni Category Group Description - The department category group description.
- Omni Subcategory Description - The department sub-category group description.
Store Fulfillment Dimension
These new measures allow a supplier to report on or analyze how their items are performing within the digital world. Pick and substitution rates (defined below) are two ways digital performance is measured.
Picks: All picks, as ordered, on the first picking attempt. It is based on the first pick display timestamp and does not include exception picks or items that are canceled prior to dispense.
Substitution: The system recommends a different item for the OPD associate to pick since the original item is out or can't be picked.
- First Time Pick Rate - The percentage of items that were picked in the first pick-walk for store fulfilled orders.
- First Time Pick Rate Quantity - The percentage of units picked as ordered the first time a store attempts picking them.
- Nil Pick Rate - The percentage of items that were not fulfilled for unscheduled orders.
- Nil Picks - A measure of the units not picked or substituted by a store. In general, Nil Pick is an event of not being able to pick an ordered item, substitute an item, or provide a manager override since it is not available on the current shelf.
- Pre-Substitute Rate - This is an indicator of how often the customer got exactly what they ordered before any substitution.
- Post Substitute Rate - A measure of the percent of scheduled pickup and delivery units picked or substituted after all picking attempts. It indicates how often the customer got an item for their order including substitutions and manager approved overrides.
Omni Sales
- Service Channel - The channel through which the order is fulfilled. If the order is placed online and fulfilled in the store, then it would have one of these values - DELIVERY, PICKUP, or SFS (Ship from Store). If it is not fulfilled in the store, then it would have one of these values - S2H (Ship to Home) or S2S (Ship to Store).
- Order Channel Name - The channel through which the order is placed, or sale is initiated. Examples: Store or eComm.
- Authorized GMV vs Auth Based net Sales. - Auth GMV is the amount collected from the customer. The revenue collected from the customer for transactions. It's the price of items after deducting savings/discounts and adding shipping revenue. Note: For store channels, AUTH Based GMV, AUTH Based Net Sales, Shipped Based GMV, and Shipped Based Net Sales will all have the same value (i.e., the Net Sales amount).
- Auth Based Net Sales Amount - This is the revenue recorded financially (sometimes AUTH Based Net Sales is labeled as revenue in reporting). AUTH Based Net Sales is Auth GMV except for MP (Marketplace) and services sales (In Home Services, Warranties etc.) where AUTH Based Net Sales is the commission received by Walmart. AUTH Based Net Sales is what goes on the books as actual revenue. This amount is shown in dollars.
- Auth Based Item Quantity - The quantity of items placed in an authorized order. It excludes the number of units sold that were canceled and/or returned.
- Shipped Based GMV Amount - GMV (Gross Merchandise Value) is the actual amount collected from the customers. The revenue collected from the customer for transactions. It's the price of items after deducting savings/discounts, and adding shipping revenue.
- Shipped Based Net Sales Amount - The net sales amount in dollars for all orders of an item shipped. Shipped Based Net Sales Amount is AUTH Based Net Sales Amount excluding Net Sales amount for items canceled by the seller or by the customer. For warranties and in-house services, the Net Sales is Shipped Based GMV except for Product Cost, which essentially is the commission.
- Shipped Based Quantity - The number of units shipped. It excludes the number of units sold that were canceled and/or returned. This quantity is shown in eaches.
- AUR - Average Unit Revenue (AUR) reflects the average price (excluding savings, discounts, or shopping revenues) of the sold items in your category or sub-category. It is a good proxy for product pricing. This amount is shown in dollars.
- Product Margin - Current year's product margin using GMV (Gross Merchandise Value), (i.e., revenue collected from the customer, net of cancellations and all refunds). This includes replacements where GMV is generally $0 and product cost > $0 (can be shipping charges and refunds on replacements so GMV is not exactly $0).
Digital Transactability
- Omni Transactability Indicator - Indicates if customers can add the item to a cart for purchase through the Walmart App or Website. Omni-transactable items are in the sellable universe and are visible, transactable, eligible, and available.
- Missing Aisle Not Eligible Indicator - Indicates that the item is not eligible due to missing aisle location.
- Store Capability Not Eligibility Indicator - Indicates that the item is not eligible for store fulfillment because the store lacks the capability, and a process needs to be developed to make that possible.
- Available Indicator - Indicates whether an Item is available (the store has sufficient on-hands). This is a real-time calculation that determines the sufficiency of item on-hands in a specific store, ensuring the personal shopper will be able to find the purchased quantity on the shelf at time of pick.
- Item Publish Indicator - Indicates if an item is published (visible to customers on the website) with all item content, images, shelf assignment, etc. that are needed to successfully create a digital representation of the item.
- Item Setup Not Publish Indicator - Indicates that the item is not published due to an item setup issue.
- Prohibited Not Publish Indicator - Indicates that the item is not published because it is prohibited due to compliance.
Ecomm Inventory
- Available To Sell Retail Amount - The retail amount of an item available to sell at the facility (i.e., units that are in an active location, ready for picking against any customer order). Only inventory in the "Available to Sell" bucket can be allocated for customer orders.
- Available To Sell Quantity - The number of units of an item available to sell at the facility (i.e., units that are in an active location, ready for picking against any customer order). Only inventory in the "Available to Sell" bucket can be allocated for customer orders.
- Trouble Quantity - Applies to all units that are flagged by Walmart.com or via the DC as being not Available to Sell (due to damages, recalls, quality control issues, etc) and are said to be in the "Trouble" bucket.
- On Hand Cost Amount - This is the on hand cost amount that is available for an item at a Fulfillment Center (FC).
Out Of Stock Root Cause
High-, Mid-, and Low-level reasons can be used to drill-down into out of stock root
causes.
- High Level Out of Stock Reason Description - The highest level grouping of the Out of Stock reasons. High-, Mid-, and Low-level reasons can be used to drill-down into out of stock root causes.
High Level Examples:- Supplier: Out of stock due to Supplier reason
- Other: Other out of stocks for which no apparent root cause can be identified
- Logistics: Out of stock due to logistics reason
- Forecast :Item forecast is not keeping up with customer demand.

- On-Time: Out of stock due to on time conditions (see related low-level cause definitions).
- Low Level Out of Stock Reason Description - The lowest level grouping of the Out of Stock reasons.
Low-level Examples:- Allocation: The item has been placed on allocation,
meaning a specific volume is ordered and distributed to stores, rather
than volume needed to fulfill all store demand; typically done when a
supplier indicates that they cannot produce enough to fulfill all
demand. - DC Markdowns: Inventory was marked down (damage,
throwaway, charitable giving, etc) at the DC level. - Forecast: Item forecast is not keeping up with customer demand.
- In-Full Assembly: The supplier did not fulfill 100% of the ordered quantity.
