Crisp dashboards can help you build a case to new retailers for stocking your product. To sell the new retailer on your product, you need to demonstrate that it can improve their business. The following strategies can help you show how your product will shine:
- Regionality: Demonstrate your products perform well in the region in which the retailer operates.
- Similar retailer: Show your product's success in a retailer that shares characteristics with the retailer at which you are pitching.
- Product gap: Highlight how your product fills a gap at the retailer, such as the retailer not offering a low (or high) price point product in your category.
The more of these strategies you can employ, the stronger your pitch will be. For this example, let's say we are trying to pitch our almond milk products to a retailer similar to Whole Foods that operates in the northeastern Unites States.
Note: As a best practice, do not mention similar retailers by name during your pitch.
Steps:
- Use Crisp's velocity dashboards to see if any of your products perform well at similar retailers in the regions in which the retailer operates.
- From the dashboard menu, select Whole Foods > Velocity.
- Using the Units Per Store Per Week by Region table, filter by the region in which the retailer operates, in this case let's say it's the Northeast.
- In the Units Per Store Per Week by Product table, you can now see the highest velocity products in that region. Select the products you want to focus your pitch on to filter the dashboard for these products. In this case, let's focus on our two best selling products in the region.
-
You can now use the Units Per Store Per Week line chart, the heat map, and other visualizations to demonstrate your high or growing velocity in the region. You can also use Units Per Store Per Week by City table to pinpoint cities in the region where your product(s) would perform especially well.
- If you want to share a visualization in a presentation, you can download it by selecting the Tile actions menu at the top right corner of the heat map, then selecting Download data.
Then, from the Format drop-down menu, choose PNG (Image of Visualization) and click the Download button.
- You can use the same filters on the YOY velocity dashboard to show your growth from the previous year.
- From the dashboard menu, select Whole Foods > Velocity.
- You can also make a case to the retailer that your product fills a gap they have in the products on their shelves, such as a low, high, or mid-level price point product in your category. In this case, you can showcase your high velocity generally (or in the retailer region or at similar retailer if your product performs well there) and explain how your products meet a need not currently covered by the retailer.
You can now use the velocity data you've gathered to demonstrate how your product will be an asset to the new retailer and improve their business.
